Jones The Grocer

Jones The Grocer is an Australian origin food emporium aimed at inspiring a love of great food and providing customers with a full gourmet experience. The food is fresh, providing customers an opportunity to savour authentic Australian cuisine with International influence. This restaurant is located at the Gate Mall and has a widespread area both indoor and outdoor. The space is packed with tables and decorated shelving units full of its own branded kitchen products and food items likes bakes, pastries, sandwiches, macarons and many more that adds beauty to the ambiance.

We were invited for Cheese Night by the Restaurant Manager, Mr. Gopal G. and were offered a plate of freshly baked white and brown breads. Another plate full of different kinds of cheese, nuts, fruits, ham and jam.

For dinner we had Chicken with mozzarella cheese with a bowl of Chicken Caesar Salad topped with a poached egg. And our daughter had a bowl of Chicken pasta in tomato sauce, garlic bread and green leafy vegetables. The food was tasty and at the same it was a heavy portion that overloads your tummy.

Finally we ended with a cup of black coffee and a cup of cappuccino with two plates of delicious Caramel Slice and Blueberry muffins.

We had a delightful evening with Jones The Grocer and we are planning to try their breakfast menu too.

Kosebasi

It's been a long time we have been thinking of visiting Kosebasi, in Gulf Mall. Had lunch with family on Friday and it was delightful afternoon. Kosebasi serves the authentic Turkish cuisine, which is particularly well know for speciality meat dishes and spices.

The menu also features hot and cold mezzes,traditional Anatolian side dishes and regional breads.

We ordered Pilav Ustu Tavuk Tandir, Kasarli Sucuklu Kebap, Tavuk Sis, Adana Susi Kebab Chicken and two bread baskets with mixed pickles. The bread basket is unlimited and it was soft, hot and tasty breads good enough to have the delicious kebabs. I personally enjoyed the Adana Susi Kebab very much. Hand ground lamb or chicken kebab wrapped in lavash bread, cut and grilled to perfection. Topped with garlic flavoured yogurt sauce and melted butter with Turkish spices.

Pilav Ustu Tavuk Tandir is a speciality rice dish from Kosebasi. The dish is traditional barbecued spicy marinated Chicken on a base of vegetable saffron rice with homemade tomato sauce. This was absolutely tasty rice with barbecued chicken which costs QR 49/- .

Tavuk Sis was Barbecued spicy marinated chicken cubes served along with french fries marinated in chilli flakes and rice. My daughter loved this plate and she enjoyed this portion.

Finally Kasarli Sucuklu Kebab, it is the signature lamb kebab mixed with mozzarella cheese and seasoned with Turkish spices. We loved this lamb kebab. It was flavored and grilled so perfectly and tastes outstanding. This was served again with few seasoned french fries and rice.

All food we had were satisfying and filling. The cost is a bit above but the food they serve is definitely not to be missed. The service is also very impressive. The staffs were active and very mush confident and aware of every dishes they serve.

Verdict

Kosebasi have been listed in the "World's Top Restaurant" in 2010 by Zagat. It was also voted one of "The World's 50 Best Restaurants" by 14'000 members of Conde Nast Traveler Magazine. As well as the "Best Representative of Traditional Turkish Cuisine" by International Tourist Hotel and Catering Industry.

Kairali Al Tanoor

Visited this place to have dinner with family. The ambience is beautiful, neat and clean. The staffs of restaurant were welcoming and friendly .

We had chicken 90, chicken joshila, chicken lemon coriander soup, butter naan, chi cholo rice and chicken cheese roll, gulab jamun and falooda as dessert.

The food was above expectations. The flavours of each and every dish tried were so perfect and delicious. The soup was light and healthy with delicious flavour notes from the fresh coriander leaves and lemon aloong with few shredded pieces of chicken. The chicken items were extremely tasty. They were perfectly cooked and packed in tempting spices and sauces that makes you sit back and enjoy. My favourite is chicken cheese roll. This is a must try and highly reccomends to eveyone. You get the cheese floating from the chicken after a bite and that was amazing. The chicken was also coated with perfect batter and it was super delicious. My kids loved the chicken 90. This was again loaded with rich ingredients and it's finger licking good.

Naan was very buttery compared to other restaurants. It stayed soft and hot for longer period of time and was easy to pull and part and enjoy.

The rice was special. This again my children loved it. Beautiful aroma of great flavours were bursting from it. Digged into it were lots of boneless chicken cubes that tasted unique. Masala quantity was as much as that of rice provided. A rice bowl tasted so good and filling. You will not need anything to eat along with it.

The presentation of all food, as you can see, is impeccably quirky and appealing.

We finish off with two desserts - Gulab Jamun and Falooda.

I would say, all must definitely dive into this irrisistibly sweet, syrupy dessert Gulab Jamun after a spectacular Indian feast! Falooda was again very yummy but the mango ice cream was not so suitable for it. Vanilla or butterscotch ice cream would have been better for faloodas.

The food is excellent and memorable without being pretentious.

Went for dinner with family. This is not a big restaurant but there are private portions for each family which is a plus.

We had Chicken Biriyani, Chicken Tikka Masala & Butter Naan. To my surprise it was the most amazing food I had in recent times. Biriyani was served with raita and a creamy gravy. The gravy was so delicious and biriyani was yum. Butter naan was very much buttery and soft and hot. Chicken tikka masala was finger licking good.So creamy & tasty. Loved the food whatever we had.

I highly reccomend this restaurant for good Indian food. Will definitely visit this place again to try the tandoor specialities.

Previously I had called them for business lunch. But they refused to deliver stating the long distance. But Ain khalid & Hilal is not so long !

Star Kebab Tandoori

It's a small place that has seating only at the mezzanine floor. The total seating capacity is very low.The place is neat and clean.The Kitchen is in the upstairs. The staff and service was fairly good.

We had chicken tikka masala, butter naan, garlic naan and tandoori chicken full. Food was good except the garlic naan. It was like a pappad. They do not have long menus and so not more options to choose from.

Sumo Sushi & Bento

Tried the Japanese cuisine and now I am in love with the food. We had lunch from here with family and ordered Sweet Potato Crunch, Rock n Roll Shrimp, Calamari Rings, Special Carrot Top, Chocolate Milk Shake, Watermelon Juice, Cucumber Cooler, Chicken Fried Rice, Tempura Ice creams, Choco Bomb & Green Tea Tiramisu.

The food tasted awesome. From the drinks to desserts every item had the perfect flavourings and combinations.

Loved the ambience and service. Ms. Rose was attending us and she was very polite and professional. Great service and good knowledge of every item served.
