It's a set menu and for starter they provided mushroom soup. The soup tasted good and refreshing. The next was the sushi. Unbelievably huge set of maki rolls. It was really more and heavy for two people. And the basket would be refilled again but we couldn't even finish the first basket. Our basket arrived with a mix of colourful sushi including: Spider Roll, California maki, Prawn maki roll, Lobster maki ,Chicken Maki and Steamed Turkey maki .For us the Chicken maki and Turkey maki was the winner of the night and proved to be a brilliant combo, something we’d never tried before and was a lovely novelty.

Finally there was selection for desserts and we choose Lemon Grass creme Brulee and Dulce de Leche & Banana Wontons.

For dinner we had Chicken with mozzarella cheese with a bowl of Chicken Caesar Salad topped with a poached egg.  And our daughter had a bowl of Chicken pasta in tomato sauce, garlic bread and green leafy vegetables. The food was tasty and at the same it was a heavy portion that overloads your tummy.

Finally we ended with a cup of black coffee and a cup of cappuccino with two plates of delicious Caramel Slice and Blueberry muffins.

It's been a long time we have been thinking of visiting Kosebasi, in Gulf Mall. Had lunch with family on Friday and it was delightful afternoon. Kosebasi serves the authentic Turkish cuisine, which is particularly well know for speciality meat dishes and spices.

The menu also features hot and cold mezzes, traditional Anatolian side dishes and regional breads.

We ordered Pilav Ustu Tavuk Tandir, Kasarli Sucuklu Kebap, Tavuk Sis, Adana Susi Kebab Chicken and two bread baskets with mixed pickles. The bread basket is unlimited and it was soft, hot and tasty breads good enough to have the delicious kebabs. I personally enjoyed the Adana Susi Kebab very much. Hand ground lamb or chicken kebab wrapped in lavash bread, cut and grilled to perfection. Topped with garlic flavoured yogurt sauce and melted butter with Turkish spices.

Pilav Ustu Tavuk Tandir is a speciality rice dish from Kosebasi. The dish is traditional barbecued spicy marinated Chicken on a base of vegetable saffron rice with homemade tomato sauce. This was absolutely tasty rice with barbecued chicken which costs QR 49/- .

Tavuk Sis was Barbecued spicy marinated chicken cubes served along with french fries marinated in chilli flakes and rice. My daughter loved this plate and she enjoyed this portion.

Finally Kasarli Sucuklu Kebab, it is the signature lamb kebab mixed with mozzarella cheese and seasoned with Turkish spices. We loved this lamb kebab. It was flavored and grilled so perfectly and tastes outstanding. This was served again with few seasoned french fries and rice.

All food we had were satisfying and filling. The cost is a bit above but the food they serve is definitely not to be missed. The service is also very impressive. The staffs were active and very mush confident and aware of every dishes they serve.

Verdict

Kosebasi  have been listed in the "World's Top Restaurant" in 2010 by Zagat. It was also voted one of  "The World's 50 Best Restaurants" by 14'000 members of Conde Nast Traveler Magazine. Megu, means ‘blessing’ in Japanese. Megu is a traditional Japanese Fine Dining Restaurant located at Pearl Qatar created to cater to a more upscale clientèle, offering a modern and contemporary take on traditional Japanese dishes.

This restaurant can be viewed far from the waterfront. Megu showcases the center of attraction from outside and the luxury dining from inside. The restaurant is accessible via elevator and it opens to a reception and drinks counter.

As we move inside the dining room you will be stunned to see the royal and beautiful ambience. One side of the dining hall is completely glass door where the diners are fortunate to experience the most enviable views of luxury yachts docked in Port Arabia. The terrace area is preferable in good weather conditions as you can enjoy the food and the pleasant breeze from the sea at the same time.

Megu also offers two private dining rooms for parties or special occasions, of which the biggest room can accommodate upto 12 people and it has a small terrace with the view to sea.  These are charged approximately 20% of your total bill.

Beside this there is special sushi counter with wonderful seating arrangements that's impressive.

Food at Megu :

We began with Teriyaki Salad. Wok fried chicken are doused in teriyaki balsamic sauce and tossed in three types of lettuce finish with watermelon slices for a balanced flavour. This salad was extraordinary. It was the richest and tastiest salad ever.

We then ordered four herbs crust chicken. This is one of the best herbed chicken we had ever had. Oven baked chicken pieces are garnished with four mixed herbs and it was fabulous.

As for main course we had two different types of garlic fried rice, chicken and prawns. The rice was flavored and cooked perfectly. The taste and aroma was so good that it makes you go for more plates to order. Chicken and Prawn pieces in it were coated with lovely batter and it was yum to have with with crisp and crunch.

Of course we did tried their Rock and Roll sushi with crispy prawns and avocado filling. It was delicious too with lovely sauce glazed on top of it. The presentation of all the food was amazing and the plates were extremely heavy to lift it.

We enjoyed the refreshing drinks a lot. The lemon with mint, pineapple juice and Tokyo Passion. Loved the Tokyo Passion the most. Haven't tried anything like this before. Passion fruit with mint leaves and sprite. Amazing combination and tasty till the last sip.

Finally we finished off with lip smacking desserts. Ordered three desserts and all were superb. The Green Tea Cheesecake, Green Tea Pannacotta and Azuki Chocolate Fondant.

Megu is the Award Winner of the “Best Interior Design in the Region” by Arabian Property Awards 2011 and nominated for the 2015 Qatar Design Awards for “Best Interior Design for a Food and Beverage Outlet”. Megu serves outstanding food in a trendy setting inspired by Japanese interior accents, exuding elegance and timelessness.  This is a must visit place.
